Our Educators

Lauren Farmer
Hello, my name is Lauren Farmer, and I am the Preschool Program Coordinator as well as a Saplings (4s) Preschool Teacher at the Oak Brook Park District’s ABC Preschool. I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Illinois State University. I also attended National Louis University where I earned a teaching endorsement in Early Childhood. Teaching has been such a fun and rewarding experience. My favorite part of teaching is making connections with my students. Learning about each student, spending time with them and making them smile brings an even bigger smile to my face. I look forward to instilling a positive, growth mindset and creating an engaging, welcoming learning environment in my classroom. The goal for my students is for them to always work hard and find success in every day. Each day is a brand-new adventure for me and the students!

Lauren Kool-Krych
My name is Lauren Kool-Krych. This is my ninth year at the Oakbrook Park District. I have experience working with children between the ages of 2 and 16 in many diverse settings. I found that my passion lies in the education of young minds. As your child’s teacher I believe that I have the opportunity to play the role of a guide through each student’s journey through the learning process. Preschool is the foundation of your child’s intrinsic motivation and perception of learning. I take great pride in creating a fun, safe, and structured environment that encourages young minds to grow.

Jeanne Borchardt
Hello, my name is Jeanne Borchardt and this is my 4th year teaching 3’s at ABC Preschool in the Butterfly Room. I graduated from Indiana University with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education.  I also have a masters degree in Reading and Learning Disabilities. I am looking forward to being one of your child’s teachers and watching them learn and grow this year!

Allie Cook
Hello, my name is Allie Cook and this is my 1st year at Oak Brook Park District as a 3’s teacher in the Pony Room.  I have many years of experience in the preschool setting teaching both 3s and 4s.  I also have experience in the middle school setting as an ELS Teacher for 6th-8th grades and although I loved that experience, it further solidified that working with young children is truly my calling.  I look forward to guiding your child on their educational journey towards elementary school and beyond, and to foster their love for learning.

Kathleen Curley
Hello, my name is Kathleen Curley and this is my 4th year at Oak Brook Park District’s ABC Preschool.  I graduated from Carthage College with degrees in Biology and Education.  I am excited to be teaching the Just 2s and Bridge to Preschool classes.  I have a diverse background working with children of all ages and really enjoy the preschool age.  We will spend most of our time learning through play, and will incorporate music, art and movement into our day as well.  I take pride in creating a creative, comfortable and cooperative learning environment and I am confident that our time together will encourage your child’s mind to grow through new experiences, activities, and relationships.
