Tennis Center Outdoor Courts Project

The Oak Brook Park District is planning a rebuild of the Tennis Center outdoor courts after years of ongoing repairs caused by aging surfaces and drainage issues beneath the courts. The outdoor tennis courts have exceeded their useful life and now require frequent and increasingly costly repairs due to inadequate drainage and the deterioration of the asphalt, concrete, and sub-base materials. While staff originally explored expanding the layout to 12 courts, rising construction costs led to the recommendation to rebuild the existing 8 courts within the current footprint to provide a more cost-effective solution.

The outdoor courts play an important role in park district programming, supporting summer camps and seasonal tennis activities that generate both community engagement and operational revenue. The Tennis Center operates as an enterprise fund and does not receive tax dollars. Sufficient reserves have been accumulated to fully fund this project.

This webpage will house pertinent information about the project to keep the community informed and maintain transparency throughout the process.

Please review the Board Packet for the January 19, 2026, board meeting for additional information. Cost figures were previously redacted to maintain the integrity of the competitive bid process.
