AED Locations

Automated external defibrillators are available at key locations in the Oak Brook Park District's indoor facilities to support a rapid response during a cardiac emergency.

What is an AED?

An automated external defibrillator, or AED, is a portable device used to help someone experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. It analyzes the person's heart rhythm and, when appropriate, delivers a shock to help restore a normal rhythm.

AEDs provide clear voice and visual prompts throughout the process. Training is recommended and can build confidence, but the device is designed to guide a responder step by step.

In an emergency

  1. Call 911 and ask someone to get the nearest AED.
  2. Begin CPR if the person is not breathing normally.
  3. Turn on the AED and follow every prompt.
