The Oak Brook Park District successfully hosted Tom’s Try-Athlon on Saturday, June 6, 2026, welcoming young athletes ages 6 to 14 for a fun and encouraging event.
The annual event once again highlighted effort, perseverance, and community spirit as participants took on a triathlon-style course designed to be both challenging and accessible for all skill levels. Families, friends, and volunteers gathered throughout the morning to cheer on athletes as they completed each leg of the race.
Participants began their event inside Swim Central, the Park District’s indoor pool facility, before continuing on to the bike and run portions of the course through Central Park. Each age division featured distances tailored appropriately for younger athletes, allowing every participant the opportunity to succeed and feel proud of their accomplishment.
Tom’s Try-Athlon continues to be a meaningful tradition for many families, with several returning year after year. The event reflects the Park District’s commitment to creating positive youth experiences that build confidence and encourage active lifestyles.
The event is made possible through the generous support of the Tom Truedson family, longtime supporters of the Oak Brook community and the Park District. Their continued commitment helps ensure Tom’s Try-Athlon remains an accessible and memorable experience for all participants.
