Oak Brook Park District Receives DuPage County Health Department Grant to Offer Free Swim Lessons for Children Ages 3–5 who qualify for financial assistance

OAK BROOK, IL – The Oak Brook Park District is excited to announce it has received a grant from the DuPage County Health Department to offer free swim lessons for children ages 3 to 5 who qualify for financial assistance. Lessons will be held every Friday from 3:30–4:00 PM, from May 30 through August 15, 2025, at the Oak Brook Park District’s Swim Central.

Each eligible participant will receive eight (8) free swim lessons, designed to build confidence and teach fundamental water safety skills in a fun, age-appropriate environment. The program is limited to 20 participants.

“We are deeply grateful to the DuPage County Health Department for their support,” said Caroline Reimann, Aquatic Programming Supervisor at the Oak Brook Park District. “By offering free swim instruction, we’re providing vital skills that can help prevent drowning and build lifelong confidence in and around the water.”

Taught by swim instructors, the lessons will focus on water acclimation, floating, breath control, and basic swim strokes, all while ensuring a safe and supportive experience.

Families must complete a financial assistance application to determine eligibility and register through their Oak Brook Park District account.  Enrollment is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.  Find out if you are eligible for financial assistance here and complete the registration process.
