Oak Brook Park District Launches Pet Supply Drive

Oak Brook, IL – The Oak Brook Park District is inviting the community to support local animals in need through its annual Pet Supplies Drive, running through June 30, 2026. Donations will be collected at both the Family Recreation Center and Tennis Center. The supplies will benefit Hinsdale Humane Society and Cat Guardians, two organizations dedicated to providing care, shelter, and resources for homeless and rescued animals throughout the area.

Requested donation items include:

• Pet food and treats for dogs and cats
• Pet toys for dogs and cats (preferably no rope)
• Pet care essentials, including litter, puppy pads, and feeding supplies
• Cleaning and household supplies used in animal care

Community members are encouraged to view the Pet Supplies Drive flyer available at Park District facilities or visit the Oak Brook Park District's social media channels for the complete wish list, including preferred brands and specific items most needed by the benefiting organizations.

The upcoming Barks & Brews event will serve as a featured collection opportunity for the Pet Supplies Drive and will take place June 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. The event will include a peanut butter eating contest, best trick contest, pup themed trivia, prizes, and a scavenger style “Pupanger” Hunt. Registration is required. Participants may register with or without the beer package option, and all dogs must remain leashed throughout the event.

As an added incentive, attendees who bring three items to donate to the Pet Supplies Drive at Barks & Brews will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win prizes for their pup.

In celebration of National Best Friend Day on June 8, the Park District will offer a special 30% discount on Barks & Brews registration. The promotion will run from June 8 until noon on Friday, June 12, giving dog owners and their four-legged best friends a limited-time opportunity to register at a reduced rate.
