Summer Notice: Lightning Warning System
Oak Brook Park District’s Lightning Prediction System is in operation from April - November.
ONE PROLONGED BLAST OF THE HORN(Flashing Light ON): Immediately seek shelter in a vehicle or building, conditions are right for generating lightning. Per District rules, ALL OUTDOOR ACTIVITY MUST CEASE. AVOID: Open areas, water, tall trees, metal fences, cellular phones, and radios.
THREE FIVE-SECOND BLASTS: All clear signal-risk of lightning has diminished.
Refunds will not be processed due to weather closings, as we keep staff on hand and operate the facility until we know we must close. The pool will re-open if the storm passes quickly.
Patrons may also check for weather updates on the Splash Island Twitter account, @SplashIslandOB.
