Tom Carroll


Oak Brook Park District Welcomes New Swim Team Head Coach

Tom Carroll has eight years of coaching experience. He holds a Bachelors of Arts degree from Lawrence University in Wisconsin.  He is a former Head Coach for the Blue Devil Swim Club in Gurnee where he increased Regional Qualifiers by 27% and State Qualifiers by 50%. Tom brings excitement and experience to the team. His motto, “Swim smart. Swim fast.” is one he incorporates into his coaching style. “The Stars Swim Team has always been known for producing quality swimmers and I hope to expand on that tradition by catering to the individual swimmer while developing a team atmosphere.” said Carroll.

The Oak Brook Stars Swim Team is a year round competitive team for ages 6-18 years old that offers a comprehensive program of instruction and training. The Stars age group team is a member of United States Swimming, Inc.(U.S.S.) through its local chapter, Illinois Swimming, Inc. (I.S.I.). The team competes throughout the season in dual meets and meets sanctioned by I.S.I.

Arbor Day


Congratulations to LeAnne and Fumei Jackson, Winners of the 2008 Arbor Day Poster Contest!

LeAnne's and Fumei's fun and detailed drawings illustrated this year's theme, "Trees Are Terrific - Give Your Favorite Tree a Hug" and were selected as this year's winners of the Arbor Day Contest at the April 14, 2008 Meeting of the Park Board of Commissioners. The posters are on display in the lobby of the Family Recreation Center. The Park District hosted the Arbor Day Poster Contest to give Oak Brook children the opportunity to learn about Arbor Day and the importance of trees for our environment and enjoyment. LeAnne and Fumei both won a Family Aquatic Center Birthday Splash Party! In the photo thay are putting mulch under the tree planted in their honor.

Five days, two days, one week or the entire summer…you choose the option that works for your family. Various days and times have been created to fit into any schedule. Information on specific days, times and weeks is available on the following camp pages. Any camper registered for Playground, and/or Extreme Camp as well as another camp program will be escorted to the different location by a camp counselor.

This seminar is presented by nationally-known ecologist and environmentalist, Jack Pizzo in cooperation with the Oak Brook Park District on Saturday, May 31, 2008, 10:00 a.m., Family Recreation Center Meeting Rooms 2 & 3.
Discover the rewards of using native wildflowers in your garden and get expert answers to your questions about plants and habitats. Currently working on the ecological restoration at the Dean Nature Sanctuary, Jack's lively and informative presentation will help you achieve the garden of your dreams.
