*Referendum Open House | 11:30am-5pm

Residents that would like to learn more about the Oak Brook Park District Open Space Referendum are encouraged to attend our Open House tfrom 11:30am-5pm. The event is informal and there is no set presentation schedule. Please feel free to stop by and ask questions so you may make an informed decision when you vote on this measure on November 6.

Referendum Information: The relocation of McDonald’s corporate offices to Chicago presents the Oak Brook Park District with an opportunity to secure open space and park land for the community. On November 6, residents will decide if the park district should issue a $17.9 million bond over a 20-year period to cover the cost of purchasing the 34-acre property at Jorie Boulevard and Kensington Road known as the "McDonald's Soccer Fields." Should the referendum pass, the park district would keep the property open recreational space. If the referendum fails, commercial or residential development on this site is likely. The current draft of the Village of Oak Brook's Commercial Areas Revitalization Plan proposes rezoning the McDonald's Fields Property to Multi-Family Residential (pages 5 and 14).
