Central Park receives “Outstanding Park” award

The Central Park Improvement Project included the installation of a 1 million dollar Universal Playground in Oak Brook

The Illinois Park and Recreation Association (IPRA) recognized the Oak Brook Park District ‘s Central Park with the 2018 Outstanding Facility & Park Award. The award recognizes public agencies for their exceptional and unique achievements in design and development.

Oak Brook Park District removes low-head dam on Ginger Creek and works to improve water quality on Salt Creek Watershed

If you enjoy walking the paths of Central Park, you may notice that your experience is significantly more serene along the lower section of Ginger Creek. In September, the Oak Brook Park District completed a 2-year, $140,000 project to replace a failed gabion weir with a new rock Cross-Vane water control system.

Despite the rainy summer, the Oak Brook Park District is on track to celebrate the grand opening of a $1 million Universal Playground in Central Park. The new playground is designed so everyone, regardless of age, ability, or critical illness, will have the opportunity to socialize, play, and explore together.
