The OBPD Stars Swim team is a competitive team focusing on racing as well as developing skills for competition. STARS is committed to supporting swimmers at every level; from the most basic learning stroke development phase right up to the most advanced stroke refinement. The team is open to anyone age 6-18 that can swim at least two lengths of the pool (25 yards). The coaching staff will decide group placement based on the individual swimmer’s needs and ability. Stars Team members will be instructed on proper stroke mechanics, and will receive training that will prepare them for age group competition. Through our program, swimmers are also encouraged to develop personal qualities-discipline, self-confidence, cooperativeness, and the ability to identify and work towards goals- that will help them achieve success in all aspects of life. The team participates in local competitions in the Northern and Western suburbs during the summer season. Participation in these meets are optional and up to the individual swimmer.
Fees:
All fees must be paid in full at the time of registration at the Oak Brook Park District Family Aquatic Center and must be received before the first day of swim team practice. Swimmers who have not registered in advance will not be allowed to practice until registration fees have been paid.
Swim team members are only allowed to swim during assigned practice times. Teammates that want to swim on their own outside of practices are required to either purchase an Oak Brook Park District membership or pay the daily admissions fee.
Please note: Parents may observe practices but we kindly request that you watch from the observation deck at the Aquatic Center. USA Swimming and Illinois Swimming regulations and insurance restrictions allow only athletes and coaching staff access to the pool deck during practice times.

Konrad Korth began his swimming career as a 9 year old on a U.S. Air Force base in Lakenheath, England where he swam with the Lakenheath Barracudas.
Experiencing the transitions of different coaches and styles, Korth’s skills developed quickly and he found himself seeking new challenges. He joined Great Britain’s premier swim club, Teamipswich, which was lead by Dave Champion, former coach of Olympic hopeful and World Champion Karen Pickering.
After graduating high school, Korth attended UIC, where he started as a walk on his freshman year. After winning his conference championship that year, Coach Paul Moniak signed him on a scholarship. During Korth’s sophomore year, the UIC Flames unexpectedly won the conference championship marking the team’s first time in UIC swimming history to win the Horizon League Championship.
During Korth’s junior year, UIC placed 3rd and the team placed 2nd his senior year. Korth’s best times include the 400 IM (4:06.00) the 1000 free (9:37) the 500 Free (4:38) and the 200 IM (1:54).
During the summers he spent in the States, Korth worked as a swim camp counselor and coach at Colorado State University where he was mentored by head coach John Mattos. Mattos coached Amy Van Dyken to Olimpic Gold on six different occasions in the 1990s and inspired Korth to begin a career in coaching.
