Where was your family in 1834?

Your answer will be important to the development of an exciting and unique exhibit planned by the Oak Brook Historical Society. Recognizing the diversity of our community, the Oak Brook Historical Society's new exhibit will present a history of local Oak Brook families that begins in 1834 when the first settlers arrived, through the contemporary day of the Twenty First Century.

The mission of the Geographic Genealogy Exhibit is "to bring unity and inclusion to the community through presentation of family histories of all residents." Make sure your family's history is part of the exhibit by completing the Geographic Survey. (The Oak Brook Historical Society is also providing assistance to families that need help in researching their family history.)

Click here for more information on this exciting exhibit and for a copy of the Geographic Survey.

Give a Lasting Gift of History in Honor of the 50th Anniversary of Oak Brook!

In honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Village of Oak Brook, the Oak Brook Historic Preservation Fund has been established under the leadership of the Oak Brook Historical Society. Our mission is to raise funds throughout this year and subsequent years that will be used for grants to support capital restoration projects at the historic landmarks of Oak Brook.

The two Fund recipients selected for 2008 are the Old Butler School to be used as the home of the Oak Brook History Museum and Mayslake Hall at the Mayslake Peabody Estate.

Please click here for more information on how you can donate to this worthy project and preserve Oak Brook's historic sites for future generations!
